Unfair dismissal change will not be retrospective
With what is effectively the introduction of a two-tier provision for employees bringing unfair dismissal claims, with staff employed before 6th April 2012 continuing to benefit from the shorter, one year qualifying period, employers will need to check their staff's continuous service dates up to 5th April 2014, when considering dismissals to ensure they understand the implications of any dismissal decisions they may take.
